Tomorrow night at the Valve. We sorta practised tonight, so we have a full set again… a surprise cover + two new songs.  Although we did attempt the new songs when we filled in for Cap A Capo last Friday at the very, very last minute.

PENNYWISE, THE MENZINGERS & FACE TO FACE!  Friday night I met up with old Luke in Newtown, we went to get some pie, but the line was too big and we didn’t want to miss any of the Menzingers.. so we got some chicken burgers then jumped in a taxi to the Roundhouse!  We timed it perfectly and after about 5 minutes the Menzingers came on! They are one of my favourite bands and I was a little disappointed they only got to play for 30 min… but it was an awesome set, highlights for me were Mexican Guitars, So It Goes and of course Gates… probably my favourite song ever.  After the Menzingers played we decided to go upstairs because we are old and couldn’t be bothered being in the pit. Yeh lame I know!! But it was a good view and we managed to get a nice spot on the railing upstairs so could see EVERYTHING that was going on. I think we got very lucky with the postponed tour in the end… I liked Pennywise with Zoli, but definitely missed Jim in the band!! I decided Fuck Authority is a song that I will never get sick of hearing! I wonder if the band feel the same about playing it every night! Their set was filled with all the classic Pennywise songs we’ve all grown up on and they ended up playing four covers, including down under and TNT! The only bad part of the night was during Bro Hymn. This song is meant to be a tribute to their late bassist, Jason Thirsk and it would be nice if the security guards showed some respect. A few guys jumped up on stage and immediately got tackled off by the security (scum). As the song kept going more and more people got up on stage, but for some reason the security were still trying to stop them… from our point of view we could clearly see them laying into guys, at one stage Fletcher even came over to stop them. I decided to start filming it on my phone because it was getting out of control… but I missed the worst parts. My phone fucked up and the video didn’t save. Today i plugged it into my computer and the video appeared… I’ll post it shortly.  Overall I had a really good night, it’s just a shame about security people acting like animals. Punk gigs run much better without them there.
